Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that playing for Inter Milan is “special.”
The former Roma, Arsenal, and Manchester United man spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s win over Venezia. He hailed the help he gets from his teammates.
Inter took three more points in Serie A this evening.
It certainly was not a straightforward victory by any means for the Nerazzurri.
Inter had to ride their luck a bit right at the end. Venezia had thought they’d scored an equalizer deep into stoppage time, before the goal was disallowed for a handball by scorer Marin Sverko.
But it was three more points for Inter.
And that means that the Nerazzurri have drawn to within just a point of Serie A league leaders Napoli.
The Partenopei had lost their own match earlier today. They fell to a 0-3 defeat at home against Atalanta.
And Inter took advantage, even if it was far from pretty.
Henrikh Mkhitryan: “Playing For Inter Milan Is Special”
Midfielder Mkhitaryan thought that he’d put Inter ahead during the second half before he found his goal ruled out for a narrow offside by Federico Dimarco who set him up.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old also missed a very good chance in the first half.
But it was Inter captain Lautaro Martinez who scored the match’s only goal. And at the other end, Inter kept a clean sheet for the second consecutive match in the league.
Mkhitaryan has been at Inter since the summer of 2022. He joined on a free transfer from Roma.
And virtually his entire time at the club, the Armenian has made himself an indispensable part of the team.
“Playing for this team is special,” Mkhitaryan declared. “I love it.”
“The help I get from my teammates is immense,” the 35-year-old continued.
Mkhitaryan said that “I try to give everything, and play as much as possible.”
“I’m here to help the team and win as much as possible,” Mkhitaryan said.
He then noted that “Now we’ll think about Arsenal first, then Napoli.”
“It will be a fascinating match and very special. We’ll be playing for top spot in the table.”
