Fiorentina are pessimistic that Albert Gudmundsson will be able to return from injury against Inter Milan tomorrow.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Gudmundsson has been dealing with a thigh problem.
The 27-year-old joined Fiorentina from Genoa during the summer transfer window. And he has become a key player for La Viola this season under Raffaele Palladino.
Inter had also reportedly had a strong interest in signing Gudmundsson.
But it was Fiorentina who sealed the deal for the former AZ Alkmaar forward in the end.
If there has been an issue that has blighted Gudmundsson’s time at Fiorentina so far, it has been some persistent injury problems.
Fiorentina Pessimistic About Albert Gudmundsson Return For Serie A Clash Vs Inter
In the last couple of days, Gudmundsson has been coming back from a thigh problem.
The Icelandic international missed Fiorentina’s matches against Como in Serie A as well as Pafos in the Europa Conference League.
Gudmundsson is back in training. He has managed to complete the last couple sessions with his teammates.
However, Fiorentina coach Palladino will hardly want to risk a key player like Gudmundsson if there are any doubts about his fitness.
And according to the Gazzetta, the mood is pessimistic around the Icelander being able to return against Inter in tomorrow’s Serie A clash.
