Man City approached Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian transfer journalist Nicolo Schira. He reports that Barella soundly rejected the Cityzens’ interest to instead extend his contract with Inter.

Barella signed a new contract with Inter during the summer transfer window.

The former Cagliari midfielder extended his deal until the end of June 2029.

This was a hugely important extension from Inter’s perspective. Barella committed his future to the Nerazzurri for the long term.

And Barella is a player who has had plenty of transfer interest in recent years.

In 2022 Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester United showed interest in bringing Barella to the Premier League. Liverpool are also long-term admirers.

Man City Approached Nicolo Barella This Summer Before Inter Contract Extension

And according to Italian transfer journalist Schira, Manchester City made an attempt to sign Barella during this summer.

This came before the 27-year-old put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with Inter.

The Cityzens aimed to make Barella a star addition to their midfield.

However, Barella rebuffed this interest. He instead signed a new contract with Inter.

This only underlined how important it was for Inter to get the Italian international’s contract extension sorted out in a timely manner.
