Whether in terms of tactics or average squad age, Inter Milan and Fiorentina feature some sharp contrasts in their Serie A success this season.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This evening in Serie A, Inter travel to Tuscany to take on Fiorentina in Serie A.

And the Nerazzurri and La Viola are certainly two of the form teams in the league. Along with Lazio and Atalanta, they are among the four teams nipping at the heels of Napoli in the table.

Inter have won ten of their last twelve matches in the league. Meanwhile, Fiorentina have won seven in a row.

Inter & Fiorentina Serie A Success A Tale Of Sharp Contrasts

But as the Corriere note, Inter and Fiorentina have arrived at this point in very different ways.

For the Nerazzurri, this is very much where they expected to be at this stage before the start of the season.

Inter won last season’s title in dominant fashion.

Therefore Inter are, if anything, disappointed that they aren’t already free and clear at the top of the table. They’ve had a few setbacks early on in the season but are finding their groove.

Inter have needed to use their experience to discover their best form.

As the Corriere notes, Inter’s average squad age is right around 29. They are a team with plenty of experience to count on.

Fiorentina, on the other hand, have an average squad age of around 25.

La Viola have therefore needed an adjustment period early on in the season.

Initially playing with a back three season like Inter, coach Raffaele Palladino has found that a 4-2-3-1 formation gets the best out of this group of players.

And as the Corriere notes, the average age of Fiorentina’s squad is just 25.
