Striker Marcus Thuram failed to live up to expectations in yesterday’s Coppa Italia clash between AC Milan and Inter Milan.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908. They argue that the Frenchman has not looked himself since the start of 2025.,
Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram had a lot of pressure on his shoulders against Milan yesterday.
With Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez out, Thuram is the only remaining first-choice starter in attack. Yesterday, he started alongside Joaquin Correa.
It was hardly a dreadful performance from Thuram. The Frenchman was able to get on the ball and link up play fairly well.
However, what was lacking from Thuram was any real cutting edge.
Over the first half of the season, Thuram was Inter’s biggest goal threat. The 27-year-old’s pace and the timing of his runs, as well as emerging goal-poaching instincts, saw him get on the end of the team’s most dangerous chances regularly.
Yesterday, however, there was scant evidence of that.
Marcus Thuram Underwhelms Again In AC Milan 1-1 Inter Milan Draw

In fairness to Marcus Thuram, the Frenchman has been playing with a physical issue.
During a Serie A clash with Fiorentina in February, the France international suffered a heavy blow to the ankle.
And that has proven to be a persistent issue. It has seemingly robbed Thuram of some of his dynamism and agility to really burst past opposition defensive lines.
Therefore, Thuram was not really able to seriously test Milan defenders Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia.
That is not to say that there were no bright moments from Thuram, by any means.
However, it was far from the most memorable performance from the 27-year-old in front of goal.
