Beppe Marotta acknowledges that Inter Milan are “following” defender Giovanni Leoni, whilst the signing of Ange-Yoan Bonny is close.
The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of today’s Club World Cup match against Fluminense, via FCInterNews. He also said that it’s unlikely Bonny will be at the Club World Cup.
Inter Milan’s interest in Parma defender Giovanni Leoni is well-known at this point.
The Nerazzurri had reportedly already tried to sign the teenage defender last summer. However, Parma beat them to the punch.
But after a very convincing campaign at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, Inter’s interest in Leoni has only grown stronger.
Particularly after the appointment of Cristian Chivu as coach. The 44-year-old had really gotten the best out of Leoni at Parma.
Marotta: “Inter Are Following Leoni, On The Verge Of Signing Leoni”

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta was asked about Bonny. He replied that “The view of Inter is that Leoni is a very interesting profile in the Italian football scene.”
“And for the future of the national team,” he added.
“He’s in our notebook,” Marotta said of Leoni. “I don’t hide that.”
“But there’s no need to imagine any sort of concrete negotiations at this point.”
On the other hand, with striker Ange-Yoan Bonny, Marotta said that “We’re just wrapping up the final details.”
“I hope it can be concluded by the end of today in US time,” he said. “And that he can be in Milan as soon as possible for the medical.”
As far as seeing Bonny at the Club World Cup, though, Marotta said “I don’t know, we’ll discuss it with Chivu. But I don’t think so.”
Then, Marotta gave his thoughts on today’s Club World Cup round of sixteen clash with Fluminense.

Marotta called the match “very important.”
“Because it’s a one-off match, for a place in the next round. Otherwise, we go hope.”
“Clearly, we’re hoping that we can continue on this great experience, and defend the history of this club,” said Marotta.
We need to do better in selling players, we must capitalize before the players price start falling, or try not to have this much player go for cheap or on free. In the last 10 years, we had less than 10 outgoing transfers i think who went for over 20 mil. That’s too low of a number, we’re not financially stable that much. Both Napoli and Atalanta have done better than us in this parameter. I know Atalanta haven’t won much, but they’re in top 4 places constantly and they can right now give 40-50 mil for a player, while we can’t. For example Hakan, more injury prone now,if we keep him this season, we will let him go for 10 mil at the end, instead of 30-40mil we can get now.
I hope ppl in the comment section are more calm now. Given his lack of experience…13 and 6-7 in performance bonus should be max. Because…k-dog, barbosa, joao mario. Compared to bastoni, lautaro, barella. I would say marotta knows what he’s doing
