Unfortunately, it does seem that way. I was looking forward to a formation change. I’d love to go to a 433 sometime over the next couple of years. Either way, 100% CCB is the biggest concern for me. We must sign a proper starter quality player there, and then the remaining funds on either a CM or a Striker.

I wouldn’t call our formation against Olympiakos 3-5-2. Toro was way deeper and more like a 3/4-ist. The plan was always to gradually change our gameplan, and by using the elements we already excell at. Thuram was our most offensive player by far. Dumfries and Dimarco on average as attacking ad Toro.
Man marking is easier than zonal against quick players. Our defenders just need to get used to the timing and spacing to various attackers. But of course, having a Cordoba-type of defender would add another layer of security.
we were never going to play 4-3-3. I’m glad we don’t copy other teams doing that as they will always have better players in those positions than us due to money. At least playing 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 gives us a point of difference and we can better compete financially against teams also seeking players that fit that system.
