Serie A referee Simone Sozza dropped the ball in last night’s showdown between Inter Milan and Fiorentina.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via L’Interista, the 38-year-old came under fire for last night’s underwhelming performance at San Siro.
Despite Inter’s landslide 3-0 victory, Sozza’s mistakes overshadowed Inter’s dominant showing against Stefano Pioli’s out-of-form side.
Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu and Petar Sucic stole the spotlight, leading the Nerazzurri to a comfortable win in the second half.

Like Maurizio Mariani last Saturday, Sozza faced widespread criticism for his handling of critical moments.
Furthermore, the Italian referee made two unforgivable mistakes on either side of halftime – both at the expense of Cristian Chivu’s side.
Though Pietro Comuzzo had no eyes on the ball while bringing Francesco Pio Esposito to the ground, Sozza remained silent.
However, his decision not to award a penalty to Inter at the start of the second half was even more mind-boggling.
Indeed, Comuzzo wrestled Esposito to the ground, putting his arm around the Italian striker’s neck without watching the ball.
Still, Sozza and his VAR colleagues unfathomably saw no foul play.

marotta league they say. of course marotta dominates the league, but mafias monopolize it
Somehow, the defender putting a choke hold on Esposito was not a pen. That picture of the ref doing a nazi salute is fitting. Hail Napoli, Conte, and Camorra. The refs are here to serve you.
Daniela on the var. It was to be expected. Should never get anywhere close to inter that street dog.
Comparing with Mariani, this ref was ok.
Let’s not forget the push on Lautaro, that should’ve been reviewed too.
