Following last night’s 2-1 win over Paris St Germain in the Champions League, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic was asked about the possiblility of returning to Italy by Premium Sport.
“Going back to Italy? It’s hard to say at the moment, I’m happy here in Madrid but I loved Italy and Milan, in the future you never know.”
Mateo Kovacic, alongside Philipe Coutinho can be regarded as one of Inter’s biggest regrets. His sale was forced by problems with Financial Fair Play but due to the overall lack in value of the squad and players refusing transfers at the time, management had to chose between him and Mauro Icardi. While Icardi has become the captain of the Nerazzurri and earned respect among fans for his goal scoring whereas Mateo Kovacic will be able to boast a larger trophy cabinet, albeit while spending most of that time on Real Madrid’s bench.
Following his excellent performance against PSG, it’s looking good for the young Croatian. However, should he be kept waiting too long for more chances, perhaps a return to Inter could be a possibility in the future.
Just a dream, that’s it.
He just was not physically strong enough for Italian football. He got his chance to impress in a very average team and did not take it. 35m may seem low now but was a good deal when he was sold.
Inter-Kovacic is love story that didnt go well.
Moving on, talent comes and go, but harmony in team and a working strategy and tactic is count the most.
And no, 2 biggest regrets for Inter is Coutinho and Real Ronaldo (R9)
Or maybe Ronaldo and Pirlo
There are many:
Bergkamp, Seedorf, Cannavaro, Roberto Carlos can be added to the list of those that didn’t work out.
But Zanetti, Mazzola, Matthaus and Ronaldo are the biggest stars.
With FFP knocking again, we need to sell. Icardi, Perisic, Kandreva and Brozovic could bring more than 250mil. With K-dog and J. Mario we could bring another 50-60 in. We can buy 10 Rafihnas/Skriniars/Cancelos with that kind of money….And I would actually bring Gabigol back and ALLOW HIM TO PLAY. How many now??? Coutinho, Kovasic, Barbosa…..anyone remembering R.Carlos?…Also, get D’ambrosio out and allow Dalbert FFS….He is like 10 better on his worst night comparing to DUMBROSIO on the left……
Agree on every single word
Sold coutinho to buy kovacic, sold kovacic to buy kdogbia, sold/loan kdogbia to buy Vecinho.
Maybe Baldy will sell Vecinho to bring talented midfielder to continue the legacy cycle of his mentor.
Dwl, it got worse each time. Except Vecino isn’t worse than Kondogbia.
well, in such young age he managed to pass those through balls, and his goal against lazio i remember too well…and those, he did inside the team with lots of ‘circus’ players…so…at least he has that ‘mentality’. not like many of players here
that goal is what made zidan buy him cuz he saw his own goal
i would give 10 times icardi for kovacic …. Icardi is a good player but with really bad attitude……… Furthermore i remember kovacic always trying for the club and in lots of games he was all over the field alone …. Icardi on the other side in lots of games he does not touch the ball sure when he does he scores and we dont even know how he did it but i prefer creativity over icardi also the good attitude of Kovacic . Icardi for kovacic and benzema is a good deal for the club in my opinion
Football isn’t all about attitude these days. It is all about performance
And that is what Icardi does well. Even messi couldn’t score a couple of months ago when Argentine was struggling in south American qualifiers
i agree but kovacic as i said has both and i dont believe that icardi is a good leader cause of his attitude
and sometimes icardi looks like that he is not even trying kovacic as an inter player was everywhere in the field with worst players in our team when kovacic was in inter
What “bad attitude” are you speaking of icardi? I believe i never heard icardi missing training, party all night long before a game, late in training etc.. could you be more specific about this so called “bad attitude”??
i agree that he is a good professional player he doesnt miss trainings or being late in trainings or partying at night but with his status in the team i believe that we would not knew if he does….. with the bad attitude i mean the autobiography that he wrote at such a young age ( 0 modesty) in which he critisized the fans, also i can trust a guy that he does that thing to his best friend … also he has a megastar status and he consistatly is trying to make a new contract with more money ( if he wanted the best for the club he would take less so as inter could afford more players and the club levels up as a club and as a financial organization due to the fact that we have huge financial problems ) . in general i believe that he believes that he is greater than our club
Um okay first of all you sound like maradona lmao..no basis on your argument against Icardi…legit only thing is with maxi lopez which has happened years ago. That autobiography comment to me is SO understandable…I could remember the game when he went over to those ungrateful fans and gave his jersey only to have it thrown back into his face. Maybe he shouldn’t have put it in his biography in a sense that it would and did cause unrest with the said ultras but again.YEARS ago.And with the contract renewal…you do know Icardi has a clause of 110m and that is basically pennies so INTER are pushing for the contract to either remove the clause completely or to increase it to around 150m but at either rate Icardi isn’t pushing for any contract renewal. If we were to talk about bad attitudes I’d think you’d start off with the croatians or something otherwise no way José.
you might be right i sound a little like maradonna …. my point is that mate you are 22 and you write your autobiography you are not Messi you are not Ronaldo … u haven’t conquered anything important except been an inter captain in such a young age (inter faults too early ) be modest keep your head down and fight everyday every moment for your team through this difficult time u have someone to look after and learn how to be a captain who is near the team and has proved that he knows how to be a captain. I am maybe angry with Icardi cause of the situation with our team cause what we need all these years is a leader in the field and out cause as we hear there was a really bad attitude and with attitude i mean that there are players that dont care much sure both the croatians in our team ….thats all i am just frustrated with our players at this moment ….
Oh definitely.Icardi is not a leader ..he cannot lift the team like a leader should but that’s the thing, nobody on the team can.Maybbbe Miranda but at that age he already has one foot out of inter but I just don’t like when people use off the field/personal problems to justify a player’s quality but the frustration is mutual.
That’s not his playing style. You can’t expect a striker to be running all over like a midfielder. If he does that would leave him out of place when he’s to be on the final ball.
Don’t listen to this Icardisti man, because they sound more like Icardisti then Interisti. They talk about performance when we haven’t been even in Europa League in recent years.
Icardi like you mentioned it, there are matches where he disappears. And we can go even in stats and look it up. Until now he has had two crises so far, both of 5-6 matches at least where he was completely useless. Which is equal to at least 12 matches. So basically he hasn’t even made an effort for the half of the matches this season and these Icardisti talk about performance. WTF!!!
I’m tired of this so called “captain”. He’s just a spoiled brat, nothing more. And if it wasn’t for Inter he would be a nobody. And he will be a nobody for sure. Doesn’t know to even accept a simple pass.
We sold our best player and they fooled the fans as always and said it was financial problems i swear they lied, they spent even more on that handycap black dude right away
Yup, I agree. You can’t say the sale was due to FFP then turn around and spend more on another player. They had another Coutinho moment, let’s be honest.
mancini was the reason
Yeah because he couldn’t actually think how to make the proper system for Kovacic. Because obviously he was our best player. Icardi without suppliers is useless.
While Kovacic was the only player that could create on his own.
We should have never let him go- just another example of how badly the club is run! FFP can be used as an excuse, but in the end we sold Kovacic and Hernanes to finance the deal for Kondogbia! What a great piece of business that turned out to be! Kovacic could have been the heartbeat of our midfield for a decade, but instead we now have a midfield without any creativity at all (bar a half fit Rafihna)! To really rub salt in the wound, he will probably end up at Juventus or Milan in the future….well done Inter, once again!!
He won’t end up at those places.
160 mil plus Kovacic for Icardi….why not?
They wont do it
Probably not but who knows. If they get desperate to revamp their squad Perez won’t hesitate. I’d be ok with anything 110 mil+ and Kovacic.
they know who we are everyone does, bargain club we are
That will be the second Zlatan-Eto’o deal.
If we use those potential funds to once and for all fix this squad yes..
