Despite everything’s best efforts, in all likelihood it looks like Luka Modric will in fact remain with Real Madrid according to a report from one of Spain’s top newspapers AS.

Inter have courted Modric for a few weeks but have faced extreme difficulty in getting a deal done, not because the player and his representatives are causing problems but because Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is seemingly refusing to allow the Croatian international to leave the club, despite it being reported that Perez and Modric have a gentleman’s agreement that would in fact allow Modric to leave but only if Perez honours it.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Modric a new and improved contract but the Nerazzurri, as the report goes on to state, will wait until the bitter end to try and get Modric and have until 8PM CET tomorrow before the transfer window will slam shut.
