Javier Zanetti spoke on the month ahead for Inter in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport on the sidelines of his ‘A smile for Pupi, 17 years together,” event.
“It will be a difficult game, Tottenham is a great team and they deservedly won against Chelsea. We have also had an excellent match against Frosinone, but it will be a difficult month for us. We took the first step, now the coach and the boys will prepare for the rest of the games as best as possible. On Wednesday I will be with the team, it will be difficult but we will be ready because a positive result for us would mean a lot.”
Zanetti then spoke on the potential partnership of his two compatriots Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez.
“They are two great players. Mauro has shown it for a long time, Lautaro is taking advantage of the opportunities that Spalletti is giving him. The coach will evaluate when they can play together but we are happy with the growth of the whole team.”
Zanetti then spoke on the seemingly imminent arrival of Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta.
“We are talking about a director of great experience and expertise that will be added to a team of executives who are working to grow the club already. Recently I was in China with the owners. There is great ambition towards Inter, we must continue to grow and not stop here. The team is responding to the big moments on the field and we have to do the same from off it. We have to support the team over the next month, and we have a lot of work to do, but we are on the right track. We are thinking game by game, it will be a tough month, but we are getting ready to face it.”
