Javier Zanetti spoke with Radio Anch’io Lo Sport ahead of Inter’s crunch Champions League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
“We have to follow our path and must improve on last season. The qualification to the Champions League must be a starting point to prove we are even more competitive and I think the team is showing this.
“We think that new players that have been added that have given us quality. The manager is doing a great job, we want to be competitive and therefore need continuity. Beyond the first games we have done very well.”
He proceeded to speak on Inter’s next match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.
“It will be a very important match for us. It’s a period with lots of difficult matches. The first step was to win with Frosinone and redeem ourselves after Bergamo. We will now prepare the best we can for the match in London against an opponent who are in great shape. Especially at home they are strong and we must be concentrated. A positive result would give us qualification to the next round and we will put our all in to it. The Champions League is a competition where Inter must always be and we find ourselves against an opponent of great value, who absolutely has to win.”
Zanetti then discussed Giuseppe Marotta.
“It’s not official yet, but the arrival of such an expert and competent director strengthens a team that works outside the field for the club and knows the dynamics of football very well. We have done great things in these two years under Suning, but we know we still have a lot to do. We know of Marotta’s ability and his contribution will help Ausilio and Gardini who are doing a great job.
