Last night there was a meeting between Inter president Steven Zhang and Inter striker Mauro Icardi that resulted in his decision to return to training this morning according to a Sport Mediaset report.

Prior to today, Icardi had not trained with his teammates since February 13th, the same day he was stripped of the Inter captaincy, with him officially out with a knee injury.

The report also details that Icardi had a long and detailed phone conversation with his lawyer Paolo Nicoletti to discuss his reintegration into the team having not played since the 1-0 victory over Parma on February 9 and this was decisive.

It is possible that Icardi could make a return to first team action as early as the game with Lazio in 10 days time but that will largely depend on what kind of physical condition he is in.

26-year-old Icardi has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season in which he has scored 15 goals and tallied three assists.
