The coming week will be decisive for whether or not Mauro Icardi will make a return to action against Lazio according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Icardi is gradually being eased back into full training and the goal for him remains being called up for next weekend’s clash with the capital city club.

It is not a certainty that he will be called up, even if videos of him in training bode well for his chances. However, one thing that is a certainty, in the eyes of Gazzetta, is that he will have to earn his place back in the starting eleven.

Icardi last played on February 9 in the 1-0 win away to Parma and in his absence, his compatriot Lautaro Martinez has come in and proved himself and he will definitely not just be dropped back to the bench because the 26-year-old is back available.
