Former Inter manager has spoken on the start of his stint in charge of the club as he addressed his fellow Portuguese coaches at the annual NTF Coaches Forum.

“When I arrived in Italy, our first game was with Sampdoria, while the second one we played was against Catania, after these two games I felt at home at Inter,” he explained.

He then went on to recall his first season in charge of the Nerazzurri.

“I arrived in Italy in 2008 and found a league where defence was preferred with super defensive systems that were greatly organised. We wanted to become champions but we encountered great difficulty along the way.”

During his tenure in charge of the club, Mourinho, who is currently out of work following his sacking at Manchester United, won two Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, an Italian Supercoppa and most famously the Champions League which completed the famous Triplete during the 2009/10 season.
