Inter’s chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has shared his views on the usage of VAR during the Lega Calcio meeting between referees, coaches and captains.
“The evolution of Italian football needs technology. We need to improve the protocol, especially when it comes to fouls in the box. We must achieve perfection when it comes to handballs.
“We need a little more indication from the IFAB to dictate the regulations because even with VAR there is still difficulty.”
Marotta, who has held his position at Inter since the end of last year, concluded: “As a director, I must emphasise that VAR is indispensable but it must be perfected. We are in a phase of study, we are using an instrument that is still in testing but the journey, despite the errors along the way, is a positive one. The dialogue with the IFAB must be more fruitful, we must make ourselves heard.”
