Inter president Steven Zhang was lauded by Corriere dello Sport this morning for all the work he is doing to make the Nerazzurri an elite club again.

Zhang replaced Erick Thohir in October 2018 and has made an excellent impression both with the media and supporters.

The 28-year-old has helped Inter improve their annual turnover and reshuffled their management structure, as well as taking the club into the future with new offices and plans for a new stadium.

Beppe Marotta and Antonio Conte have been recruited due to their proven track records but Zhang has maintained Inter’s DNA through people such as Piero Ausilio and Javier Zanetti.

Inter’s turnover has doubled since Suning acquired a majority stake in the club, rising from €179 million in 2016 to €360 million in 2019, meaning they are now a self-sufficient entity after years of heavy debt.

The club’s resources are set to grow even further with their new futuristic headquarters, though, located in Milan’s busiest business district.

Zhang has helped refurbish Inter’s training ground at the Pinetina and will soon give the green light to a new apartment block and more facilities for the youth teams.

He has also played an instrumental role in setting up a women’s team, buying out the club who were promoted to Serie A last season.

Zhang moved for Marotta and Conte because he deemed them to be the best professionals available on the market, regardless of their spell together at Juventus.

Renewing Ausilio, Dario Baccin and Roberto Samaden’s contracts, though, along with the presence of Javier Zanetti and the return of Gabriele Oriali, means Inter remain attached to their own glorious history.
