Antonio Conte’s first Inter squad features a link to the Nerazzurri’s glorious recent past, as Gazzetta dello Sport explained this morning.
Dejan Stankovic’s 17-year-old son Filip will play for the club’s Primavera side this season and is due to train as the fourth goalkeeper at this week’s summer camp in Lugano.
Stankovic helped Inter win the under-17 league title in June by saving a penalty in a 3-1 win against Roma, and he will hope he can be first choice under Armando Madonna.
His father was an instrumental part of Jose Mourinho’s treble-winning side and represented the type of leader Inter need now.
Conte will train the first team in Switzerland until Sunday, when Inter will conclude their training camp with a friendly against Lugano.
The Nerazzurri will then fly out to Asia for the International Champions Cup, which will pit them against prestigious opposition such as Manchester United and Juventus.
