Inter held talks with Lautaro Martinez’s agent this evening to discuss a contract extension, according to gianlucadimarzio.com.
Lautaro earns around €1.5 million per season in Milan and is tied to the Nerazzurri until 2023.
Inter want to increase the striker’s salary and add another year onto the end of his current deal, keeping Lautaro at the club through to 2024.
An agreement is not thought to be imminent, though, because the player’s agent Beto Yaque would like to leave El Toro’s €111 million release clause intact.
Lautaro arrived late for preseason this summer after helping Argentina to a third-place finish at the Copa America in Brazil.
He will nevertheless start alongside Romelu Lukaku in attack on Monday, when Antonio Conte takes charge of his first competitive match against Lecce.
Earlier this week, La Repubblica bizarrely suggested Inter could sacrifice Lautaro to chase Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.
These reports have not been confirmed by any other source, though.
