In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport’s online edition Gazzetta.it, Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala appears to have opened himself up to the idea of there being two stadiums in the San Siro district.

Inter and AC Milan had wished to knock down their current stadium San Siro once their new stadium was built a short distance away but it is looking more and more likely, judging by reports in the media, that San Siro will remain in its place – albeit not necessarily exactly the same in terms of the way it looks.

Sala said: “The idea of the two stadiums did not convince me initially but now it seems to me that we are thinking of revising the Meazza and not only limiting it to being a sporting venue, which makes sense. Right now Inter and AC Milan are still in the verification phase, everything is still to be seen.”
