In today’s print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport have looked at a possible solution for San Siro as part of Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project.

The two clubs had planned to completely demolish San Siro but it is looking increasingly likely that they will have to somehow incorporate it within their plans.

“Sala and his council will soon vote for the public interest in the new San Siro, but Inter and Milan are already asking for clarification of the two most limiting conditions that emerged from Palazzo Marino’s vote, namely the reduction of noise and the possibility of renovating the Meazza,” the report begins.

“It needs to be understood if the clubs will still be able to carry out their project by heavily modifying it. Keeping the Meazza as a smaller stadium and with a shopping centre is one solution that has been suggested.

“It is still too early to say whether it is economically sustainable for the clubs to have two stadiums near enough attached. Certainly, however, the historic San Siro would still lose the appearance of today.”
