Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino are battling it out to take over from Roberto Gagliardini in the Inter midfield for tonight’s match away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Gagliardini has not travelled with the Inter team to Germany due to picking up a muscle injury and as a result, there is now one space available in the midfield.
Both Sensi and Vecino have been struggling with injuries as of late. Sensi made a return to the bench for the first time in four matches for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bologna whilst Vecino made a cameo appearance off the bench having missed the previous three matches with a problem of his own.
The decision will ultimately come down to what kind of game Inter manager Antonio Conte wishes to play. If he wants a more technical performance, Sensi will be sure to be picked but if it is physicality he is after, Vecino will be chosen.
