Inter’s medical staff hope to make Nicolo Barella back available to Inter manager Antonio Conte for the first match of 2020 according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Barella sustained an injury to his knee during Inter’s recent 3-0 win over Torino in Serie A and underwent surgery yesterday to correct the injury with the surgery being a complete success.

The young Italian international, who has become one of the lynchpin’s of Antonio Conte’s Inter, now faces around a month out on the sidelines with the medical staff confident that he can make a return to action in the match against Napoli on January 5.

Barella has made 17 appearances across all competitions this season since his Summer transfer window arrival from fellow Serie A club Cagliari.

In 1160 minutes on the park, the 22-year-old has got on the scoresheet on two different occasions and has also provided three assists for his Nerazzurri teammates.
