Inter goalkeeper Daniele Padelli discussed making his debut in the Serie A with the Nerazzurri in their 2-0 win over Udinese in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia immediately after the match.
“The first thing I thought was to recover, because I also had a little bit of a fever. But it was a passing thing. It was difficult for me because I hadn’t played in Serie A for 1,200 days.
“I was also excited because I was wearing the Inter shirt, which is the team I support. Now I’m enjoying this moment.”
The 34-year-old Italian shot stopper then spoke about the injury to Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic.
“When Samir Handanovic suffered a knock, I thought it was nothing. Then I thought I could play. I showed myself that I’ve trained seriously, my role is special, especially because I’m behind one of the best goalkeepers in the world. It was very complicated to be ready for a number of things.”
Finally, Padelli discussed his performance and improvement working with the Slovenian goalkeeper.
“Samir never gives up, being behind him has made me grow so much. But it’s on the pitch that you can see the improvements. Today, I had a good game, I hope to have given my team-mates confidence.”
Padelli has only made three appearances for Inter since his arrival from Torino in 2017. Both of his other two appearances came in the Coppa Italia for the Nerazzurri.
The player is contracted to the Milanese club until June of this year, with no contract renewal likely considering that Inter are looking to sign a long-term replacement to the aging Samir Handanovic.
The Nerazzurri are now three points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus, who retained their lead over the Milanese club with a simple 3-0 win over Fiorentina yesterday. Inter are also only two points ahead of third place Lazio, who have a game in hand.
