In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter president Steven Zhang has shared his delight at the fact the Derby D’Italia against Juventus will go ahead this weekend albeit behind closed doors, a decision Zhang admits is the right one.
“We will play and it is essential that it happens in the conditions of a safety plan. Health is the number one priority. I am convinced that even behind closed doors, it will be a great event,” he began the interview which appeared in today’s print edition of the Milan based newspaper.
“It is a match that fascinates millions of fans and I look forward to Sunday’s match with confidence. I am sure that the team will give their best.”
He was then asked if there will be any problems for the side given their lack of games in recent weeks with three of their last four across all competitions postponed.
“I don’t think so, I am sure that Inter’s reaction will be positive. We want to give a nice present to our fans and we can go to Turin and win this wonderful match.”
Zhang, who is the youngest president in Inter history, then went on to sign the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte who has the club still competing on three fronts at the moment.
Inter are still well in the Serie A title race, they are in the semi finals of the Coppa Italia and also set to play in the last 16 of the Europa League against Spanish outfit Getafe.
“We are really lucky to have an extraordinary manager in Antonio,” he concluded.
