Inter president Steven Zhang has reiterated that the club will continue to support the city of Milan in their attempts to contain Coronavirus.

There are now over 6000 confirmed cases of the virus in Italy with well over half of those being in the Lombardy region, which Milan is part of.

The Coronavirus outbreak in the country has caused a great deal of chaos with many regions placed in complete lockdown as the Italian government take drastic measures to try and prevent the spread of the virus which there is currently no known cure for.

Italian football has been significantly affected with a whole host of games postponed in the past few weeks and it was recently ordered by the government that all sporting events must be played behind closed doors until April 3.

“We are proud to be part of Milan,” Zhang explained in an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“To demonstrate our support for the city, we have announced a donation to the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences Luigi Sacco in Milan to support the extraordinary work of the sanitary workers in these complex days and to underline the deep bond the club has with the city.”

The youngest president in Inter history also spoke on the new stadium project that the Nerazzurri have on the go with their city rivals AC Milan.

“In addition, we will continue to support Milan in its rebirth, launch positive messages and consolidate the already strong link which will be further enhanced with the new stadium project.

“The new stadium project will represent a further boost for the city in line with the profile of innovation and desire for change that has always made Milan unique.”
