A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has highlighted the importance of Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij to Inter and their coach Antonio Conte.

The report details how the 28-year-old Dutchman, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has become one of the best defenders in the league under Conte. The player’s market value has quickly risen and there is pressure on Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman to insert De Vrij back into the national team system.

The 28-year-old has made 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2634 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals, provided four assists and help Inter keep eight clean sheets. His consistent performances have ensured that Conte can always place his trust in him and the player will be a key part of Inter’s defense both now and in the future, even with young talent Alessandro Bastoni threatening to become a constant starter.
