Inter midfielder Matias Vecino will undergo knee surgery in Barcelona soon, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 28-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has missed the last two league games due to a knee injury, but he hasn’t started for the Nerazzurri since the 8th March, in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus. Since then he has been plagued by a meniscal injury which will be operated on soon in Barcelona.
Vecino has been used often by coach Antonio Conte this season, the report continues, and so his loss will be a real blow to the Lecce born coach.
The 28-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1698 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided one assist. He was close to leaving the Nerazzurri in January but a deal away never materialised.
