Inter central defender Diego Godin has insisted that he and his teammates have work hard and aim to finish as high as possible in what remains of the season following the frustrating goalless draw against Fiorentina on Wednesday night.

Inter had several chances to take the lead but Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano had a man of the match performance and stopped everything that came his way. Inter also had the misfortune of hitting the woodwork on multiple occasions in the game.

“Tonight, all that was missing was the goal. We did a lot of good things, created a lot of chances, but we couldn’t score,” Godin explained to Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the full time whistle at San Siro.

“We dominated the game and we deserved to win. Our focus is now on the Genoa match and the other games that are left.

“We have to continue like this, working hard with the aim of winning them all and getting as high as possible in the standings. We want to end the season  in the best possible way and then think about the Europa League.”

The experienced Uruguayan national team player, who continued his recent good form in the clash against La Viola then went on to state he and teammates need to have the belief that they can go all the way and win the Europa League, which they will return to action in at the start of next month.

“To compete at a high level and build a winning mentality we must think we can win the Europa League. I know how to win this trophy and I know that winning leads you to winning more. Right now though we have to think match by match.”
