Inter are weighing up the possibility of offering a new contract to striker Lautaro Martinez but only after the end of this season, according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 22-year-old Argentine national team striker is currently under contract with the club until the end of the 2022/23 season and the Nerazzurri club could well tie him down for a few more years with a contract extension.
However, the report stresses that these talks will only take place after the end of this season, something confirmed by Beppe Marotta last night.
For a number of months now, Lautaro has been heavily linked with a potential move to Barcelona, who he has seemingly already agreed personal terms with over a long term contract with a €10 million plus annual salary.
The report from the Milan based news outlet however goes on to explain that Barcelona currently cannot finalise a deal for the former Racing Club player.
This season Lautaro has made 42 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 18 goals and provided six assists for his teammates.
