Barcelona have not given up in their pursuit to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

As things stand, the highly rated 22-year-old is looking more likely to stay at Inter than he is to moving to Barcelona, who have been unable to satisfy the Nerazzurri’s demands for him.

Barcelona failed with a €70 million plus Junior Firpo, who was rated at €41 million, deal and before making a new move for the Argentine national team player Barcelona will need to make a number of sales and think about a different counterpart. They could choose Rafinha, who previously had a loan spell at Inter.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to explain that Barcelona are convinced that Lautaro will not accept a move to anyone other than them and if unable to do a move next year, they will manage to do it next year.

The La Liga side have asked the player to not agree to an increased release clause if he is to sign a new contract with Inter, something the Nerazzurri club are currently preparing to offer, as Barceona want to be able to sign him for the same amount that they could have this Summer, €111 million. The report concludes that Inter are ready to offer him a new deal worth €5.5 million a year.
