There are two possibilities as to what was behind Inter manager Antonio Conte’s most recent outburst according to a report in yesterday’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Libero.

The first possibility was that Conte has opened up talks to agree terms with another club whilst the second was that he wanted to show he only wanted to continue at Inter on his terms.

In short the former Italian national team boss wants greater protection from the club and a greater presence from the club as well in difficult moments, such as the leaks regarding Marcelo Brozovic’s recent off-field behaviour.

In essence he has called for club president Steven Zhang plus chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta to step up and he is now awaiting concrete action from the pair of them.

Inter management feel that Conte’s work this season, although incomplete, has been excellent. The club believe that they can reap what they have sown. Moreover, Inter are not thinking, nor have they ever though, about sacking him due to how much it would cost.

Conte currently earns €11 milllion net a year and has two years left on his deal and Inter are already paying Luciano Spalletti and his staff a total of €25 million until the end of next season.

The report concludes that Conte feels that there are people at Inter who do not appreciate his way of doing things.
