Former Barcelona and AC Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida has shared his belief that there is a possibility that Inter could pull off a move to sign Barcelona captain and multi-time world player of the year Lionel Messi.
In recent weeks reports have speculated about Messi possibly arriving at the Nerazzurri club when his contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the upcoming season.
Despite the obvious large costs involved, Braida is of the belief that it is indeed possible for Inter to complete a deal for the Argentine national team player, who has spent the entirety of his career at the Nou Camp with the Blaugrana side.
“Lionel is a real phenomenon, when he is involved nothing can be taken for granted but in football there is always a possibility, but I think he wants to stay at Barcelona,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli earlier on today.
“I don’t see him anywhere other than Barcelona, knowing also that his friends and his entourage believe that it is difficult for him to move.
“The clause? I don’t know about it, but I’m sure that clause will have constraints. He has an incredible salary. If he were to leave the Blaugrana and move elsewhere, the club who manage to sign him’s investment could be repaid with other income.
“If he were to arrive in Italy, then it would be an added value for our league. People come all over the world to see him. He represents football. Barcelona have a great image thanks to Messi and due to what he represents in football.”
This season 33-year-old Messi has made 42 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 3600 minutes, he has scored 30 goals and provided 26 assists for his teammates.
