Barcelona can only complete a deal for Lautaro Martinez if Inter agree to accept a player as part payment according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Barcelona have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old for a considerable amount of time but due to their current financial situation, which is due largely in part to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Barcelona were unable to meet his €111 million release clause in recent months.

Despite their financial situation, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is refusing to give up when it comes to signing the Argentine national team player.

Bartomeu has however been clear that negotiations to sign Lautaro will only be able to resume if Inter agree to a counterpart being included.

The report from the Roma based news outlet goes on to explain that in the event Lautaro stays at Inter, a contract renewal is ready to be offered to him.
