Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij has been forced to pull out of the the Dutch national team due to injury, the Dutch national team have confirmed via their official website.
The 28-year-old former Lazio player was named in the Netherlands squad for their UEFA Nations League fixtures with Poland on Friday and Italy on Monday but he will play no part at all due to an injury, which the Dutch national team have provided no detail of in their announcement.
Stefan de Vrij will leave the Dutch national team training camp and interim manager Dwight Lodeweges will not call-up a replacement for de Vrij. It now remains to be seen what the injury de Vrij has sustained is and how serious it is.
During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, de Vrij made 46 appearances across all competitions. In his time on the park, which totalled just over 3900 minutes, de Vrij scored four goals and provided a total of five assists for his teammates.
