Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on Twitter earlier that Inter have started new talks with Barcelona to help facilitate a move for Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The report details how the Nerazzurri have opened contact with the Blaugrana to help 33-year-old Vidal leave Catalonia to head for Milan.

The remaining issue in the talks between the player and Barcelona was previously unpaid add-ons, worth about €2-3 million.

The Milanese club are hoping their assistance can unblock the situation to allow Vidal’s contract to be mutually terminated. A final agreement could even be reached today as Inter look to speed up the deal.

Vidal made 43 appearances across all competitions last season for the Blaugrana, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in that time. He has been wanted by coach Antonio Conte for some time now, with interest dating back to last summer.

Di Marzio described the situation on Twitter, saying: “Vidal, Inter open talks with Barcelona to close out the deal.”
