Italian football journalist Riccardo Gentile has shared his belief that Inter are spoiled for choice as far as their midfield department is concerned ahead of their season opener at home to Fiorentina this weekend.
Inter have recently bolstered their midfield department with the acquisition of Arturo Vidal from Barcelona and he has joined a midfield department which already consisted of top players such as Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella and Christian Eriksen among others.
“Inter are spoiled for choice in the midfield. They can play with three midfielders or two midfielders and Sensi can fill multiple roles and be an important player,” Gentile explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday afternoon.
Gentile then addressed the current situation of Christian Eriksen, who has not played to the levels expected since his arrival at the club in the most recent January transfer window.
“Eriksen has not found space in his six months in Italy. Either you make him a playmaker behind two strikers or otherwise he doesn’t have a place.”
He then went on to speak about Radja Nainggolan’s future with the club amid ongoing media speculation linking him with a return to Cagliari, who he spent last season on loan at: “I would be surprised if he stayed, even if I were Conte I would not let him go.”
