A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has analysed Inter’s decision to sign Christian Eriksen.

The report details how the Nerazzurri signed the 28-year-old Danish midfielder from Tottenham in a deal worth €20 million back in January, a high fee for a player whose contract was set to expire six months later.

Eriksen has played a total of 1,150 minutes since his arrival, half the time of the total 2,160 minutes that Inter have played in that time period.

The 28-year-old has not particularly impressed in that time, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 28 appearances.

He does not fit coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system, the report continues. The 51-year-old Italian changed the formation to better accommodate the Dane but it did not help, with Eriksen still seemingly invisible in games.

Fault lies with both parties, as Eriksen is clearly not working as hard as needed, and Inter should have not signed a player unfit for Conte’s clear tactical system.
