Inter defender Stefan de Vrij was awarded the best Serie A defender of the season award before the Nerazzurri’s derby against AC Milan on Saturday, with the Milanese club showing off his trophy on their Instagram page yesterday.

The 28-year-old Dutchman, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, made 46 appearances across all competitions last season under coach Antonio Conte, for a total of 3906 minutes.

In that time, he scored four goals, provided five assists and helped the side keep 13 clean sheets.
