Lautaro Martinez clarified the reasons behind his outburst in the match against Genoa at the weekend to his teammates yesterday according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Argentine national team striker was visibly angry on the pitch and squabbled with some of his teammates and also punched the bench upon his substitution.

As per this report, the reason for his outburst was due to him being disappointed in himself for how he was playing and played at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The opportunity for redemption for the 23-year-old is practically immediate with Inter due to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League tomorrow evening.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that the time will soon come for Inter to accelerate things as far as a contract renewal is concerned. Whilst this does not currently affect his mood, it would certainly make him feel more important at Inter.
