Legendary former Inter defender and club captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte’s new communication style is detrimental to the team.
“We are at the beginning, Conte is communicating in a different way, even from the bench he is leading the team with non-verbal messages,” he explained in an interview whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia during their ‘Sky Calcio Club’ show, earlier on today.
“He behaves differently when the team is behind or when he has to move forward because when the team scores a goal, he is nice and lively.
“I think he has to be himself and this way of communicating is to the detriment of the team. Even what he is looking for from the team is something different.”
Next Bergomi shared his views on Inter’s performance in their 2-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
“In the first half Inter did not have a good match. They dominated the game but they created little, they were slow and boring.
“In the second half, when they unlocked the match, in the most difficult moment an Inter came out that must have the space to perform at their best.”
The 1982 World Cup winner proceeded to speak on the constant media commentary on how things are going for Christian Eriksen at Inter.
“Eriksen? I wouldn’t want it to become a problem that Inter winning or losing is always and only about him and it is neither good nor right for Inter.”
Bergomi came through the youth ranks at Inter and spent the entirety of his senior career on the club’s books.
During his 19 year playing career, Bergomi made 754 appearances across all competitions to date for the club, an appearance total bettered only by Javier Zanetti, who made 858 appearances for the Nerazzurri. Bergomi won seven trophies whilst with Inter, including three UEFA Cup’s.
