Inter centre back Milan Skriniar has revealed that he and his teammates are happy to have won their final game of the calendar year as they beat Hellas Verona 2-1 away from home this evening.
“How much is this win worth? We knew we were in for a very difficult match on a complicated pitch. We played against a good team that bothers everyone.
“We are happy with this result that let us end the year well,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match in Verona.
Skriniar then spoke on his goal, which was his first in a long time and ultimately proved to be the winner for the Nerazzurri.
“I missed scoring so much but above all I’m happy for the win which is the seventh in a row. My celebration was for my girlfriend and my daughter.”
The Slovakian national team player who joined Inter in the Summer of 2017 from Sampdoria then spoke on his adaptation to playing in the three man defence, something he initially greatly struggled to do.
“I feel well, I’m working a lot like the whole team are. Of course it took some time to get used to playing with the three man defence, I’m happy that now things are going better. When you win everything is better.”
In conclusion Skriniar shared his delight with the growth that the team have made: “I’m happy for what we have done, certainly we could have done better but now we have to rest and then continue on our path.”
This season the 25-year-old has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal in just under 1100 minutes on the field.
