Inter coach Antonio Conte is hoping to see a return of the ‘real’ Arturo Vidal after the Christmas break, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 51-year-old Italian coach is a big fan of the 33-year-old Chilean midfielder, who signed in a low cost deal from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Conte expects Vidal to be scoring consistently and providing an attacking threat for the Nerazzurri, and even changed the formation to a 3-4-2-1 against Hellas Verona to try and better accommodate Vidal’s attacking aspects.

Placing Vidal behind the striker gives him more freedom to push forward and less concern about having to cover the midfield.

Vidal has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 990 minutes. In that time, he has not scored a goal and has provided two assists.
