Ex-Inter President Massimo Moratti believes that a victory for his former club in today’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan will put them in the driving seat for the remainder of the season.

Antonio Conte’s side take on the Rossoneri in a top of the table clash in Serie A at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this afternoon, with Inter currently a single point clear and looking to extend that en route to a first Scudetto since 2010.

Speaking to Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia yesterday, Moratti admitted that he was superstitious and did not want to commit to a prediction, but admitted that a victory for Inter would give them a considerable advantage for the remainder of the campaign.

“Precisely because I am a fan, it’s hard for me to say anything much about the Derby out of superstition,” Moratti claimed. “Of course, an Inter victory would make it all downhill for the rest of the season though.”

Moratti oversaw Inter’s last Serie A triumph under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho, before selling his stake in the club to Erick Thohir, and in turn, Suning, in 2016.

The 75-year-old presided at the helm of Inter from 1995, seeing the club win five Scudetti and the Champions League.
