Inter full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio has emerged as a free transfer target for AC Milan, but the Nerazzurri may block a move by extending his contract.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the former Torino defender is out of contract this summer and has thus far not penned a new deal, paving the way for an exit.
This has prompted interest from rivals Milan, with the Rossoneri thought to be ready to offer a two-year deal and D’Ambrosio himself is open to the prospect of a move across the city.
Inter have the ability to prevent such a deal however, with D’Ambrosio’s contract containing an optional one-year extension, and directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are ready to exercise it at the end of the season.
With fellow defenders Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksandar Kolarov set to be released this summer, Inter are also keen to ensure they do not lose too many players in one go without replacements lined up.
