The future of Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne is currently up in the air but he and is club will look to settle the matter this week before the summer transfer window closes, amid interest from Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that there is still a significant distance between the 30-year-old and his club in talks on a new contract with his current deal expiring next summer, and that the Partenopei could look to sell him this summer for a fee if no agreement can be found.

Contract talks are stalled between Insigne and Napoli, with the former asking for around €6 million net per season for his wages while the latter has not put forward any more than €3.5 million.

Napoli want to put the situation to rest in the coming week, as they are reluctant to allow the player to leave as a free agent next summer and would rather sell him now, and a late push by Inter cannot be ruled out.
