Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi delivered a speech in training where he praised the team’s performance in yesterday’s Milan derby, but bemoaned their lack of finishing.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri coach emphasized that if the team keep playing as they did against AC Milan they get the right results, but also highlighted their profligacy in front of goal.
The Nerazzurri largely imposed their game against the Rossoneri before the sucker-punch of a quickfire Olivier Giroud brace meant that they had to watch their city rivals take three points and a priceless win in the Scudetto race.
Inzaghi wanted to make clear to his player that for the most part he was happy with how they played, but also put the focus on the fact that for all of the chances they created they were unable to widen their lead, allowing them to succumb late on.
The coach made this a major theme of his talk to the team, noting how they were unable to go two or three goals up in a dominant first-half performance, and asking them to work on being more clinical in order to make the most of positive play in big matches.
