Inter striker Lautaro Martinez could be in for a season of further improvements after enjoying his best goalscoring season during the campaign just gone.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who suggest that the return of Martinez’s old strike partner Romelu Lukaku could add further momentum to the Argentine’s accelerating progress.
Martinez has beaten his tally in front of goal in Serie A during each of the past three seasons, scoring 14 goals in the 2019-20 campaign, 17 in the 2020-21 season, and then finishing last season as the Nerazzurri’s top scorer with 21 league goals.
Now, the 24-year-old faces another season where he has the full backing of the club and his coach who believe that he can continue his improvements.
Moreover, the return of Lukaku gives Martinez a point of reference and a partner in crime in Inter’s attack, and so there is reason to think that even greater heights could be on the way.
