Milan Mayor Beppe Sala feels that the ownership of Suning and Presidency of Steven Zhang has been a positive for Inter, though the new stadium plans could benefit from the certainty of new ownership.
Speaking to the media, as reported by FCInterNews, Sala weighed in on how the ownership situation of the Nerazzurri could affect the new stadium plans for Inter and AC Milan.
Inter and Milan are moving forward with their new stadium plans, which they see as vital for modernizing their infrastructure and increasing revenues.
Concurrently to this, there are rumours swirling about the future of the Nerazzurri’s ownership.
Whilst the clubs are waiting to see if the public debate regarding new stadium plans can allow them to start construction, reports suggest that Inter owners Suning are looking to sell the club.
Sala weighed in on how these things could potentially get in each other’s way.
Of the possibility of new owners at the Nerazzurri, the Milan Mayor said that “It could probably give greater certainty for the future, in the sense of moving forward on the new stadium plans with more solid and stable ownership.”
“But right now I understand Zhang’s difficulties,” he continued.
Sala stated that “I think that in the end we should also thank him, I don’t say this as a fan but as a Mayor, because he took over Inter during a difficult moment and has put a lot of money into the club.”
“But at the moment if he intends to sell the club, it means that he sees difficulties for the future, so it could be a positive thing.”
