Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the Nerazzurri were not quite playing like their usual selves at the start of their Serie A match against Bologna yesterday evening.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the 24-year-old noted that it seemed to take the team a bit of time to really get into gear before they could really play their football and get an emphatic win.
Inter got off to a bit of a nightmare start against Bologna by conceding the opener, the last thing they’d have wanted in a match that they absolutely had to win to show that they were bouncing back from their Serie A loss to Juventus over the weekend.
Moreover, the feeling was that the goal was hardly against the run of play, as it had been a very scrappy start to the match, and the Nerazzurri were punished by a wicked deflection.
However, this seemed to wake the team up, as the Nerazzurri then went on to score six goals to really blow the Rossoblu away 6-1, exactly the kind of statement that was needed after Sunday’s loss to the Bianconeri.
“We started the match a bit contracted,” Dimarco said, “then we reacted well.”
“We needed to show that we were recovering after the loss to Juventus,” he continued.
Of his two goals, the 24-year-old stressed that “The important thing is that the team won.”
“I’m still happy to have scored, but the important thing was reacting as a team.”
“Now we’ll really expect to be tested by Atalanta, which will be a much more complicated match.”
Dimarco noted that “I’m improving in every aspect of my game, always giving my all in training, and then playing consistently helps me grow.”
